We only recommend using rechargeable batteries for those cameras that are marked as being able to use rechargeables (see specifications for the product).

Using rechargeables in camera's that don't support them - 8.1 - Sometimes a customer enquires about the use of rechargeable batteries in their trail camera that is not marked as being able to use rechargeables. This generally isn't a good idea and can lead to odd behaviour and/or fewer triggers.

Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend rechargeable batteries for this camera. Rechargeable batteries can be problematic as they only provide 1.2V per battery rather than the 1.5V required and so ultimately under-power the camera. This leads to a lower level of performance including loss of detection range, slower trigger speeds and reduced IR LED brightness.

I’d recommend sticking with single-use Lithium. For further information, I would suggest taking a look at our help article on this topic.

Using rechargeables that are below 2500mAh - We've tested a number of rechargeable batteries and we have found that to work reliably you need to use batteries with a capacity of at least 2500mAh. If a customer wants to use rechargeable batteries with a lower capacity they may see a reduced performance and we would recommend trying the camera with another set of batteries.

Panasonic Eneloop Pros work very well in our experiences and we supply these with our rechargeable camera models.
